Starts on a Train. Again!
Walking through the Train Station in Real Time. Hey! Let that CAT out of the Bag!
Back to School! Pay Attention!
Your **Heist** Team!
Menu Screens are as Stylish as Ever!
As are the Status and Equip Screens!
Explore Dungeons in Real Time! Watch those Shadows! **They're actually DEMONS this time though!**
STEALTH!
This looks fucking amazing. Now I really need to finish up Persona 3 and 4.
Speaking of finishing up RPG's...I checked out my Xenoblade file yesterday. I was 37 hours into it when I stopped playing in 2013, and I'm right at a big story point so I think I can just continue from there. Was afraid I'd have to start over but it seems I won't after all.
Navigator? Nurse? Both? Dunno!
Imprisoned in the Velvet Room?!
Igor and his Attendants!
Combat!
Phantom Transforms!
All the familiar elements are there. Train. You are students. You attend Class. You see the Date and Season information in the Top Left of the Screen as usual! Cooperation seems to be this game's version of Social Links. You have Modern weapons, Guns and such. They show the Team doing an 'All-Out Attack' in the trailer.
Some differences: This team may not start out with good intentions. They aren't protecting people during the Dark Hour or Investigating Murders. They seem to be Cat Burglars... **The non-human Mascot is in there too, a-la Koromaru and Teddie. This one, appropriately, is a Cat!** Suprisingly, Shadows seem to be out and Shin Megami Demons seem to be in! That's fine with me! Can't WAIT to see what Demons and/or Personas your characters can Transform into! Stealth and more Intricate Dungeons Exploration seems to be in effect. You also 'See' the Demons as you Explore now, prolly to get Advantage or Disadvantage effects at the Start of Battles!
I do like the angle of how the main character is imprisoned in the Velvet room. Might be a neat change to see a main character who isn't totally on board for what he's doing. Though if that's the case, the days of the silent protagonist will need to be over.
This reminds me I need to go back to Catherine...
Ah... I see it now! There were Guns in P3. There were Glasses in P4. Masks are the accessory of choice in P5.
Theme seems to be in contrast to P4's small town mentality. P5 takes place in a HUGE city.
Isolation and Lonliness in a Big City, Being Alone in a Crowd... Masks to cover up your true Persona!
Free your True Self!

P3 and P4 main characters speak in Persona Q!
Bang, Bang Into the Room!
I Know you Want it!
Bang, Bang! All over you!
I'll let you Have it!
Wait a minute, let me take You there!
Yooooodddddaaaaaa ! ! !
LOOK AT IT!
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK ! ! !
I still can't wrap my head around the fact that there's been NO Persona game since the generation before last!
PS3 came and went with no proper game until after it's life-cycle ended...
I am glad it's getting P5 so everyone can play it, but part of me wonders what a Persona made exclusively for Playstation 4 would look like!
Anyone notice the theme of the schemes? If you don't see it, ask!
I wonder what it means?
What kind of game is this. I thought persona was some super hardcore JRPG where you dungeon crawl for hours. This is a mix of a ton of genres with some real time action thrown in, exactly the kind of stuff I like in my games.
Still is primarily a Hardcore JRPG. Looks like they just added more robust gameplay to the exploration parts of it.
Persona is better than most RPG's of its type, in much the same way that Final Fantasy used to be. It just does everything BETTER than the rest, and is a more enjoyable experience.
Back in Episode 31 of Game Under Podcast we predicted this would be a Chair Simulator, or a game about Chair Slavery. "Why would you have a chair hooked up to a ball and chain? Where is the chair going?"
43 minute 30 seconds mark.
We also predicted it would come out in 2014.

In a recent interview with Weekly Famitsu, Persona 5 director Katsura Hashino revealed details on the game's protagonist
and what all the masked man stuff was about. "In this day and age, many people feel they don't know where they're going
and carry personal problems, big and small." Hashino explained.
__________
"You may not be able to achieve happiness by simply following the set rules or values, but at the same time, it's hard to work
up the courage to take initiative and change the status quo." He added: "That sort of negative side of modern society serves as
one of the backbones of this game."
__________
__________
The story of Persona 5 revolves around a young boy who has transferred to school in Tokyo. He lives at a café
that belongs to a friend of his parents, and yet for some reason, he has lost his place in the world. The protagonist,
while seemingly calm and mild-mannered, has an alter ego as a phantom thief. Once he dons his mask, he becomes
someone else – a "persona" change if you will.
__________
"For this game, much like the previous games, the player is the protagonist, however, unlike Persona 3 or Persona 4,
this protagonist carries his own issues and unless he resists in some way, he may be facing a very difficult future."
Hashino said, "There was a scene where the protagonist was dressed as a prisoner, you could say that he was in a
'spiritual prison' of sorts." The name of the school the protagonist goes to, the Shujin school (秀尽学園), was named
such because it's a homonym for the Japanese word for prisoner (囚人).
__________
__________
The other characters who join with the protagonist all carry their own problems and, like the protagonist, have
apparently lost their place. While he would not divulge many details, Hashino did reveal that the cat character
would play a pivotal role in the story. So, something like Teddiefrom Persona 4, perhaps?
__________
The main character's initial persona will be named Arsène. What relation this has to the French fictional
character, Arsène Lupin, or the main character's alter ego as a thief, has yet to be revealed.
__________
Hashino did note that many of the game features that fans have come to love about the Persona series will be
back, perhaps with some upgrades and alterations to fit with the new game's setting.
__________
He confirmed that the community system and randomly generated dungeons will both be back in some form,
although reportedly the main plot-related dungeons – like the grand hall with the chandeliers the protagonist
can be seen running around on in the trailer – will be fixed dungeons.
__________
Persona 5 is scheduled for release in Japan and in North America on the PS3 and PS4, and it can't come out fast enough.
